Hi!! I hope you know almost everyone on here will pick a Golden for you over the Lab

I would say both are good breeds. They both have their good and bad traits. Just go with your gut instinct

Go get a lab.

Then we can have you come back and "rant" about how difficult it is and if only you had got a golden. LoL...

Welcome to the forum

I'm hooked on my combo. When need arises, I'll be getting lab pup and older Golden cuz that's what I'm used to. Appears Golden puppyhood may be easier than lab -- but each individual is different.

Welcome!! I've had 2 Golden's. I'll never have another breed. My niece has a yellow lab. They love him to pieces, but he is hyper. At age 4 he hasn't calmed down. He never rests and paces the home or property. They have remarked to me that their next dog will be a Golden.

If you do your research and find yourself a really good breeder and not just pick up the paper and buy then your chances oof getting a healthy quality Golden go up significantly. As far as being 7 and still playing I have one that is 8 and plays everyday. She loves to lay around and sleep too but so do her 4 year old daughters. THeir level of play will match your own involvement.

Depends on where you get your dog from. My dog and his siblings appear to have lots of stomache issues. My dog's pretty lazy, he'll run around for a few minutes then will just want to lay down and chew a stick or something.

I think if you got a dog from Field lines they'd be more active (I think lol)

I've seen plenty of Old Gold on here that are just as active as seniors as they were as pups.

Welcome to the forum! I would have to say that both are fantastic dogs. I have always loved goldens since I was a small child and had to have one (actually two) of them as I got older. One thing I realized between the two breeds is my allergies. I can not be around a lab for more than 5 minutes without going into an allergic fit, but goldens on the other hand don't bother my allergies. Just food for thought if you have them.

Good luck in your decision.
