hi from down the road in AR, where are you in OK?
Howdy neighbor! We are down the road near OKC.
Thank you for your kind comments. As you can see from the pictures these are two fun loving dogs.
Rusty is obviously the darker of the two. He was a rescue as a small puppy so he hasn't had some of the behavioral issues as some older recues. He may have some structural problems in the future due to his size, leggyness and just basically poorly put together. But he certainly has a golden brain has to have a job to do. Rusty doesn't work for me, he works for the games we play. We compete in AKC obedience and have done some tracking and hunt training. Field is by far his favorite game although he will play my obedience game. He is working on his Companion Dog title and has two "legs" We hope to qualify for the third the end of March. After that we'll see where the road will take us.
Tally is the newcomer although older than Rusty. She came to live with me a year ago and is owned by my friend and mentor. This spring I wil be her official co-owner and she will live with me permanant. She is from a wonderful line of dogs that "totally" do it all. Her sire was an obedience champion and dam has multiple titles in obedience, agility and hunting tests. It doesn't matter what game we're playing she will always try. She has her CCA and obedience CDX. She is just as happy to fetch a dumbbell as she is to lie on the couch and cuddle. She is currently dating a handsome accomplished dog and will be home in a week or so. I will keep a puppy from this litter.
I'm lucky to have two very different goldens in my house. Both are so unique but compliment each other so well. I'm a very happy "dog mom".
Oh yes, I should also mention that Rusty and Tally have a pet. Wiley is a two year old rescued shih tzu (sp?) who wondered in on the farm of some relative. Since I'm not a cat person he is a little like our cat. He thinks he is a retriever and is getting very good at fetching socks but perfers to perch on the back of the couch to have a good view of his world.
