Smile Hello from Texas

Hello everyone. I live in Texas and have been researching different breeds. I have to say I am very impressed by the GR. I have found a potential breeder here. They are letting the pups go to their new owners at 6 weeks. I was wondering if I could get some thoughts from the experts in the forum. Any opinions are very appreciated.

what exactly are you looking for opinions on? whether its ok for a puppy to go home at 6 weeks? i would say in general, no.. but i know some here have taken their pups home at 6 weeks and its worked fine.

hello & welcome! I am so glad we waited until 8 1/2 weeks to get our girl, she was so much more mature & training was a snap.

Welcome to the forum from Oklahoma. I definately think if you get a GR you should name him/her sooner or boomer

I've been learning a lot and reading a lot lately and it seems that the general consensus is that it is best to let the pups stay with their mommas till 7-8 weeks. I got both of my GRs at 8 weeks old. Actually Dax was 8 1/2 (he's 10 weeks old today).

Let us know how things work out for you!

Hello and welcome. While I don't normally go along with the conventional wisdom, I agree that the pups are better off staying with their litter mates until they are seven and one-half to eight weeks old. Six week old pups have only been on solid food for a week or so. The socialization works wonders as far as I am concerned. Of course, YMMV.

Wait a minute...... as a Texan, I think Bevo or ( heaven forbid) Reveille would be more in order ROFL. Seriously, welcome to the forum. Although we brought one of our pups home at 6 weeks and her sister at 9 weeks, I now think the older age is better. If you have found a reputable and trusted breeder, they will steer you in the right direction. By the way, you've found a whole fraternity of people here who will tell you that you've chosen the very best of breeds to share your life with. There are many very knowledgeable people here that are more than willing to help you out and answer any questions you may have so enjoy the discussions and jump in and have fun.
