Hello and welcome from the Texas coast. Seem some of us have a hard time getting to sleep at night and find ourselves on the old puter hatting away. My girls are on my bed sleeping soundly wyile I just tyhink about sleepipng.
Our girls are KayCee who is 8 1/2, pure golden, has had both knees operated on because her knee caps would not stay in plac e. First surgery was done when she was 16 months, the other knee done 14 months later. She also had a severe reaction to her 2ed set of annual vax and we almost lost her. She has an enlarged heart chamber and a "fat kidney. Need I tell you we tend to spoil her a tad!
Honey is our adopted golden mix (don't tell her she i sn't pure gold because she won't believe you). We adopted her Dec. 7, 2002 and she was 'right at a year old", so we made her adoption day her first birthday....meaning she turned 6 this past Dec. A month after we got her we found she had heartworms and we had to put her thru heartworm treatment. That is rough both physically abd mentally on dogs--she had to be crated 24/7 for 6 weeks except for a few m inutes out onn short leash to do business 4-5 times a day. HOWEVER. today, 5 years later, her heart, lungs and arteries are so perfect my vet said her x-rays could be used to show what the perfect down chest should look like. She has scaraed us a couple times--like getting d-con rat poison that accidently got knocked out of the attic when we were getting some of our boys' old toys down for grandkids to play with. We got her right to the vet and she was treated, but had to be on vitamin K for 50 dayds and i worried til time was up and she passed her clotting factor test with flying colors. Then a year ago she ATE hubby's entire wallet except for picture section, chewed ornes off credit card and driver's license, a couple of months later ate an entire leather glove, and just recently ate abut 1/3 of a leather belt. You can't leave things like that aounr. But she is sucyh a loving girl, just can't seem to give us enough attention. Is almost like she knows we saved her life--she had been one hour from being gassed at the county pound. Anway, that is a rundown on the two golden girls that run this house. We lost our 12 year old golden lastMay, to heart attack. Buck hnever een sick a day in his life. The one in my avatar is Hunter. Lost him 4 years at age 4 ago to adverse reaction to the 6 ,month heartworm preventative injection, Proheart6---which the FDA had the maker pull 10 months after Hunter's death becaue of so many adverse reactions/deaths. He was littermate to KayCee and i miss that golden boy so much.
