Hi everyone!

My name is Ruth, 17 and I live in the UK in Wales. I think most people on here are in the US?

I'm a HUGE golden fan! I've wanted one ever since I as little. I've been looking around personally for several years, and it seems that finally my parents may be giving in to me. There was a golden at our rescue this weekend, but we can't take one this suddenly, despite enquiring. Really we want to get a rescue dog so tht it can be given a 2nd chance, but it's near impossible to find them around here. I'm going to try and find a specific golden rescue though :D

We already have two dogs, a border collie called Molly and a cross of everything terrier (who thinks he is a lion or something lol. Small dog, BIG personality. He isn't lion like in a nasty way though!). We also have 3 cats, two torties Soph and Cookie and one black and white girl called Jasmine. I have three rabbits too, called Cherry, Dusty and Cally. We also keep hens and ducks.

It would be great to hear from you guys about goldies! I've read into them LOADS, but I'd love advice from people who keep the breed.

Thanks! I'm off to browse now hehe.

Welcome,
I hope you find your golden rescue soon. You sound really excited. We have alot of members here from the UK. And several have rescues so they might be able to steer you in the right direction. Sounds like you have a big crew of fun pets and hope you will share pictures of them.

Thanks for the kind welcomes :).

Ah I'm incredibly excited! It's one of my biggest dreams and has been as long as I can remember to have a golden retriever. They are fantastic dogs and I can't tell you how jealous I am looking at all the gorgeous dogs on this site!

Ooo if there are any rescues in the UK I'd love to hear from them, they'd be a big help! This year finally looks like it may be the one!! Hehe.

We do have quite a few pets...lol. Our house used to be a smallholding (when my mum was little and it was her parents house). We have 4 and a half acres so the dogs spend pretty much all their time outside in the fields, playing ball, diving into the ditches and just running aorund like loonies lol.

Hehe. Seeing if breeders have had any returned is a good idea. Golden retrievers are common here, being I think something like thee 2rd most popular breed in the UK. They just don't crop up in rescues (I can see why they don't!), thoguh I think people probably take them to the specific breed ones. It does make resucing really hard considring where I am positioned in the UK.

Hehe. I adore Wales too. But you'd hate it at the moment. It's all rain, wind and freezing cold weather.

Hi Ruth and welcome to the forum.. I hope you are able to find your heart dog soon. Penny and Maggie are our first goldens, although we've always had large dogs, and I am completely in love with the breed. I know that I'll never be without one and my hubby agrees............. they are SO loving and fun. Enjoy the discussions here and feel free to ask any questions you may have.........I think you'll find a really nice group of folks.

Hehe. Thanks Mist for the details. I think i met Carol at Usk show in September? They had a stand there, and we talked to her about goldens and possible rehoming. Idealy we'd like a youngish dog to rehome, as our etrrier Max finds it hard to inergrate with other dogs and seems to get along best with young ones, rather than older dogs. and Molly is quite timid.

Hehe, I'll have a look on photobucket for pictures of the land and house for you now :D and also the epts whilst I'm at it hehe.
