Red face Hello from Wisconsin!

Hi everybody!

My name is Anna and I am 16 years old. My Golden's name is Maya, and she is about 1 1/2 years old! I am so glad that we added her to our family. She is a total sweetheart, and I've never had such a great bond with any dog before. She loves to run around and play fetch (of course!), and is very good at basic obedience. We are currently enrolled in a class so that we can get ready to take her CGC test!

I am a volunteer at my local humane society, and am also a foster mom for sick kittens and unsocialized dogs. I actually do an online high school program, so I have a lot of time to devote to the animals (both the ones at the Humane Society and my own). I am going to be studying to become a professional dog trainer and behaviorist, and I am very excited! My favorite breeds are the Golden Retriever and the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Maya and I currently share the house with two other dogs (both small poodle mixes), one sassy cat, and 3 other human family members.

Here's my girl as a puppy...

And at 1 1/2 years old...

Anyways, I hope I did this intro post okay! Sorry if I shouldn't have posted pictures.

I am very excited to spend more time on this forum! I would love to learn everything I can about Goldens so that I can be the best possible owner!

Welcome to you and Maya. If you haven't figured it out already you have found a great and busy forum here. It sounds like you and Maya have accomplished much already. Keep up the good work.

welcome! thanks for sharing the pictures! I finished a program through the animal behavior college a few years ago, to become certified as an obedience instructor (as a request from my local 4-H club board) It was an awesome experience and a wonderful opportunity for me. it sounds like something you would excell at, check it out at www.animalbehaviorcollege.com

it was a wonderful course. they mail you 2 giant binders that you must study and take online tests (there are due dates for each) and you work with your own assigned partner through each step. they will either call or email you weekly for updates and q & a sessions. after completing the book stage you must attend an entire basic obedience course with an assigned trainer, then help teach the next set of courses, then attend the courses with your own dog (your assigned trainer will pick the order you do this stage in) after that you must complete 10 hours volunteer time at an assigned rescue/shelter, working with several different dogs to help them become more adoptable. it was a very rewarding course, and if you have any training knowlege (or common sense) going in, you won't have a bit of trouble with the book part. Good Luck, enjoy! (feel free to pm me with any questions!)
