Talking New mom to Charlie :)

Hi everyone! My name is Allison and I just got my little golden puppy about 2 weeks ago. He's 10 weeks. Charlie is such a good boy, just very mouthy so we're starting puppy classes in a few days. He's my very first golden and I'm so happy to have him. He actually sleeps thru the night and seldom has accidents just wanted to introduce ourselves and say hi. Any tips on his biting would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Allison and Charlie. He is adorable. Biting goes with the territory, unfortunately. Puppy people can advise you.

Super cute-conrats! My guy is going on 7 months biting starting to die down but not over yet. I recommend chew toys for distraction and wine for you! Give it time, put in the work -results well worth it.

Welcome aboard Allison...Charlie is adorable. The biting is just part of the territory but there are a number of ways to approach it. I think you'll find the puppy section to be very helpful. I look forward to all your stories and lots of pictures of Charlie.

Pete & Woody

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

Allison your baby is so beautiful!! Welcome to our forum. Yes puppy biting is part of the puppy package, but as said above there is a ton of helpful things in the puppy part of the forum to help. Just remember dogs use their mouth as our babies use their hands. Everything ends up in their mouths. Trick for you is to learn how to control it. After they lose their puppy teeth the mouthing usually stops but it can be a long 4-5 mo. full of training for you both before you pass this. We have all been through it, and survived. Laugh a lot, and train, train, train..so much you can do to beat this until it is outgrown.

Hi Allison,

Welcome to you and little Charlie.

He's so adorable.

The Puppy Section contains a lot of very good information. There is a Search feature you can also use to look up a specific topic, threads where it was discussed will come up you can read.

Feel free to ask questions at any time, members are always willing to help out.

I haven't had a puppy in 18 years, so I will leave it up to the more recent puppy owners to help you out.

Glad you've joined us, enjoy the forum.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of Charlie as he grows.

Welcome to GRF! Your little Charlie is a cutie.

Search for biting and bite inhibition and all sorts of information will pop up.

Enjoy your little one! He'll be big before you know.
