Molly limping

I am praying that Molly only pulled a muscle or twisted something. We had her and Mosby out for a walk when towards the end we noticed that Molly was limping on her back right leg. Of course I am immediately thinking hip dysplasia. I checked her all over when we got home and couldn't find anything obvious and she didn't flinch at my probing. Ugh! I am going to worry all night long. I need a vet living at my house for times like these. I am sooooo hoping that it is nothing big. :bawling:

How old is Molly?
Don't worry yet-she will probably be much better tomorrow!

Did you check her paws? Could she have stepped on something?

Machelle

I am guessing she could have strained/sprained it.
See how she is tomorrow, see if you can keep her a little quiet and if it's not better you can call the vet. I'm no doctor, but I wouldn't even be worrying about hip dysplasia.

I would let her rest for at least 24 hours and if she is not better then I would take her to the vet. She could have over did it at and strained something in her leg. Just let her walk on it tomorrow but no running or jumping tomorrow.

Michelle,

I noticed this too with our two year old. First it was the occasional limp after swimming or a walk and then it would shift to another leg with no paw issues or anything detectable by me.

Turned out to be the early stages of tick fever and would seem to come and go. After it was confirmed, the vet got her on the right antibiotics and within 24 hours, she was like a new dog.

Watch for lethargy in the next day or two and check her for ticks. I live in AZ and there are virtually no ticks here, but low and behold sitting in the vet's office petting her I found one.

Hope it was just over exertion or something similar, but watch the other legs for similar lameness and lay off the tennis ball if she is a big ball fan. If it gets worse you can actually feel that the joint area is warmer than the others.

Good luck and we will be waiting for an update.
