How many of you have pet insurance? Or wish you had gotten it? Big question around here it seems!

1) I have it
2) I don't have it
3) I wish I had gotten it

Ranger was insured when I got him from the rescue society but I let it drop. I put money away every month into an Animal Emergency Fund - which will cover Ranger or Virgil's medical expenses (god forbid). The money is there if I need it and I feel better knowing I'm still in control of it.

I don't have it yet but more than likely will pick it up very soon.

I'm probably going to sign up for insurance for my guy at some point.

I don't want to get into the position we did with our other dogs where we were debating cost vs worth when it came to life saving surgeries. Maybe if my Jacks has splenic cancer at some point I will still debate whether I want to put him through the surgery, but I don't want to be basing my decision on whether I can foot the $3000 for the surgery.

And of course the insult to injury when we lost our Danny post surgery, we still had to pay at least $2500. :(

I did have it when Dylan was a puppy but along came Bobby and the insurance would have over doubled. I decided to put money away every week instead. So now they have a money market and a checking account. That is 12 years of savings and I only had to use it when Bobby was in the ER and unfortunately he was PTS (Hemangio)
BUT, we now have a young rescue Lennon 6 mo. and I am thinking about insurance for him because he is so young and having 4 dogs I am sure what money we have saved is not enough for all of them.
I also have Care Credit with 3700.00 worth of credit.
Now what insurance to get??????

I did a ton of research on pet insurance and after a lot of deliberation we decided to get Dakota insurance. I signed her up the day after we brought her home. I did it because I was just afraid of being in the position to help her but not being able to afford to. I'm also a strong believer in following my instinct and my "gut" was telling me to get it. I'm still in the "waiting" period but am so glad that I have it.
It also took me a ton of time to decide which company to go with, that was actually harder than making the decision of getting insurance or not.
