Just got my Dyson DC25. I went with the yellow not the purple(animal) because its just some extra attachments that you get.

I have 4 goldens and used to go through a bag a week with my old vacuum.

So far this thing has lived up to the hype. I am in love!

I know alot of people say the price is crazy. I got a refurbished one off ebay for $329 with free shipping.

Just had to tell someone how much i loved this thing.

So glad to hear this. I have a 18 year old Kirby that works great, but it is really heavy. I considered the Dyson, and wondered how it worked. Just as an FYI, I paid 1000.00 for my Kirby, but look how long I have had it. I think when you have multiple animals you can't skimp on the price of a vacuum.

When I first used my Dyson Animal I was appalled at how much fur I picked up IN MY ROOM... I filled the whole canister! The previous vacuum I was using was my roommates and it sucked, so I'm assuming my Dyson was picking up all of the leftovers.

I love that vacuum.

Oh i'm SOO jealous!! Nothing's better than vacuuming with a great vacuum! A Dyson vacuum is on my list of wants! I burned the motor up in a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser about a year ago after only 2 months of use... then I got a Eureka Pet Vac and it hasn't been that great but is still going. My sister has a Dyson and LOVES it... It's 8 years old and has only needed one $40 repair. I wish she lived closer so I could borrow it! LOL

CONGRATS on your new toy! :D

I LOOOOVE our Dyson. We have the regular model and it's going on 6 years old and still going strong. It is pretty gross (but also awesome!) how much a Dyson picks up, even when you're vacuuming regularly with another vacuum. I think it's totally worth the money for a Dyson if you can afford it. I had a $150 Dirt Devil bagless before this one and it kept getting jammed and finally just stopped working after about 2 years.

One recommendation I have, is that if you're like me and go on a cleaning rampage and start sucking up all the soot and ash from the wood burning fireplace with the hose - be sure to empty the big chunks out after or the hose won't work as well. It took us 2 months to figure out why the hose wasn't sucking up things as well as it used to. I also heard some things rattling around in there but just couldn't figure out what it was!

The Dyson overall is a lot easier to use and, except for the results of my fireplace cleaning, we've never had a problem with it at all and would highly recommend it!

Yep, Dyson user here too. I went through an Electrolux, Kenmore and Hoover in about 8 years. Should have shelled out the bucks for the Dyson. I have 3 dogs and five cats. I vacuum every other day and fill the canister each time. It's amazing how much hair it picks up. This is the last vacuum I will ever buy. Except to replace it when it wears out.

Love my Dyson DC25 Animal (purple ball). I also have a DC31 handheld for the car and around the cat litter box. The suction is amazing and there is no doggie smell exhaust. Emptying the canister is a snap with a push button. I got both of mine from Overstock.com (refurbished/open box) for a fraction of the cost of retail.

The real test is how long they last. Consumer Reports never rates Dyson very high. Anyone not like the Dyson, or have one break or lose suction after a few years. In my many years of floor cleaning I've had many vacs that worked well for a while but not for a long time. Before I spend the big bucks I want to know it will outlive me.

I've had the D25 Animal (the purple ball one) for about two years. I think it's a very good vac, but I don't think it's superior to other high end vacs out there. It is just as heavy as a Kirby...and mine isn't the full sized version. When I had one particular type of oriental rug in my living room, it was impossible to vacuum...the Dyson was so strong that it took all my body weight to move it along that rug. I read that they will talk you through lessening the power over the phone, but I never did it. I switched to seagrass woven rugs and haven't had problems since.

The power of it sometimes sends dust or hair not yet sucked up into the air, so you have to move it quickly!

I definitely like the ease of emptying it. I wish the attachments were better. The special attachment you get with the Animal version doesn't really do much for me. I tried to use it in the car and wasn't all that impressed with it.

I just got one and I do like the pick up power. The attachments are definitely kind of hinky, but it is just that it takes awhile to take it apart and put them on. I have to empty it after every room in our house! I hope it lasts a ling time.

I bought my house 8 years ago and went through 3 pretty highly priced vacuums and a few cheap ones in 2 years, then bought my dyson. I have the cheapest Animal, the DC07. It's still going strong now and I did take it in because it seemed to lose suction and they fixed it for $35 and its good as new!

Our DIL has a Dyson but no dog hair...what a waste!

I have a Hoover Wind Tunnel from way back when... I love it. I do get tired of emptying the canister though. Like Abby, I have to after every room.

Should we tell hubbies and bf's that this is the ONE appliance that is okay to give as a gift on b'days, anniversaries, Christmas??

I hope my post didn't come off as too negative! I DO like my Dyson...but I think there are some other vacuums that also get the job done.

I used a neighbor's when her pup decided to open the Christmas presents under her tree and I helped clean up (it was hilarious...and he was so proud of himself!). Anyway, I thought it was excellent! It was lighter than my Dyson, too.

Yessss I got my Dyson on ebay as well, for about $300 also and that was 2 years ago, no problems since! It's amazing..

Also, I just recently found the FURminator vacuum attachment at Ross and it was a dream come true!! I have been wanting it forever and here it was, half price, just waiting for me to take it home! :)
