can anyone recommend a good shampoo and conditioner? Sonny is itching from the shampoo at the dog wash, and he does have some dandruff now that i have gotten most of the undercoat with the furbinator. i have started him on a high quality food, and that should help with the dry skin.
also, has anyone used an odor eliminating spray between bathing?

We have had excellent results with both Hydrosurge and Earthbath shampoos and they smell so good. You'll probably want to go for a moisturizing shampoo if you're dealing with skin issues. We don't use sprays since our dogs don't smell bad at all and they get bathed every 1-2 weeks in the spring and summer and about twice a month in the winter. Those sprays can potentially irritate the skin even more. You can also supplement him with fish oil capsules for dry skin. Our dogs all get one human grade 1000 mg capsule a day with their breakfast.

PetHead makes an awesome oatmeal shampoo called "Life's an Itch". They also have a couple creme rinses. I would actually avoid the Head & Shoulders on the pups. It's very drying, even on human hair. We had to use it on Enzo once in a pinch and it made him very dry, even though it was a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. My hairdresser told me to be on the lookout for anything that says that it contains sodium lauryl sulphate. It's used in a ton of shampoos, body washes, and lotions. It's VERY drying. I'd imagine this goes for doggy shampoos, as well.

A cool rinse will also help.
