Molly needs help!!! -- Lost her battle
Hello everyone, I joined yesterday but I was to troubled to post. This is my first post and I wish that it had to do with something else. Molly is our 4 yr old golden that we have owned since she was 8 weeks old. Last week she started not eating. This has happened in the past she would go for a day or two and then all would be okay after she would pass a rock. She likes to eat rocks. She is a inside dog, we live on 2 acres that is fenced in and we have a doggie dog so she can go in and out when needed. She's normally a active dog. We work out of our home so we are in constant contact with her. It has been about 5 days now and she has lost about 25 pounds. Last Sunday morning we took her to the emergency room, they did x-rays and blood work. The x-rays did show a rock about the size of a quarter and the Dr. said that because of where it was he didn't think that was the cause of her not eating. The blood work showed that her white cell count was very high but everything else was in line. They ruled out cancer. Her temp and breathing is normal. They wanted to keep her overnight but we brought her home and then took her to our vet first thing Monday morning. He took more x-rays and compared them from the day before and the rock has moved only about 1/4". Molly is drinking water and urinating fine, she has not thrown up. She spent all day at the vet and we picked her up last night. The vet said that since she is drinking and moving around for us to keep giving her the antibiotics and feed her high fiber foods. Feeding her is the problem, about every 5 hours we give her 1 tsp mineral oil, then we give her some yogurt. We have to force feed her and the yogurt is the only thing that she seems to be swallowing. This is just breaking our hearts because we feel that we should be doing more. We are planning on calling the vet tomorrow but if anyone has any suggestions on some type of food or recipe we would be grateful.
Thanks in advanced for any suggestions.
