7 month old Golden with "popping" hips?
Hi, this is my first post but I've been a lurker, lol. I have a 7 month old female golden that we purchased locally from a family - no papers but she's a family pet/member so we were not concerned with papers or breeding her. I met the mother, she was just shy of 2 yrs old and seemed perfectly healthy. Within the last few weeks we've noticed a "popping" feeling on her right hip when she walks (petting her is when we feel it). It doesn't happen every step but is very noticable. She isn't limping, doesn't appear to have any pain and this does not slow her down one bit. I took her into the vet yesterday to have it checked out. My first instinct/panic was dysplasia. The vet manipulated both of her hind legs and feels it on not just the right side but the left also. She agrees that this is definately not "normal". We did Xrays and from the looks of the Xray everything in the hip area appears perfectly normal. My vet is making a call to a friend vet of hers who does the PennHip Xray, show him the Xray that was taken and pick his brain on what he thinks this could be and whether or not we should proceed with doing the Penn Xray. She will get back to me next week. I feel a lot better not seeing anything obvious on the Xray yesterday but am still very concerned. Anyone here have anything similiar with their golden pup?
