Woman sought in starved dog case
The Scottish SPCA is keen to trace a woman seen with a dog matching the description of the mastiff cross found tied to a fence and starved to death near Brechin, Angus, last month.
The shocking discovery was made on Friday 13 March on the Kinnaird Park Estate by a worker from the nearby Dalgety Farm.
Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Mark Lumgair, who is leading the investigation, said, "We have received information that a woman in her late thirties to mid-forties with shoulder length light brown hair was walking with the same type of dog on 2 March near Kinnaird Park.
"The dog, a female mastiff type, may have been a labrador or rottweiler cross.
"What is of great interest is this dog, like the mastiff cross discovered, was wearing a blue collar, while the blue twine this woman was using as a lead could well be the same blue twine later found tightly tethering the starved dog to a barbed wire fence.
"We have received many calls to our Animal Helpline and in some instances men have been named as potential suspects.
"However, this new information suggests it is a woman we are looking for and we urge anyone who can help us trace whoever was responsible for starving this dog to death to come forward."
Sounds like it's time for a poster blitz...
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.
Inside of a dog, are various chewed pieces of things I used to own .
