Hi, we live in Ireland with our Simba whos 5months. In Ireland nearly all Golden retrievers are light in colour, like our Simba. Ive noticed since joining the forum that loads of the goldens are a lovely light brown colour.
I regularly see all three flavors here now. The medium to redheads are still more common. The lighter shades have recently started becoming more common here. My Oakly's dad came from your side of the pond.
We have a full rainbow here. A white american eskimo that thinks she is a golden, a light golden (Daisy foster) medium gold Bama and a redhead Beau. I love all but my favorites are the redheads.
Kirby is our blonde! Our first Golden, Sandy was a field golden and was more red. Our second, Lucky, was redder yet. I think we see more medium blondies and reds around here.
Every shade under the sun. I see a lot of reds and dark browns...my last one was pretty red, well I shouldn't say red but more of a dark rust...very pretty! I love the rusty colored goldens but my new golden is a fluffy blondie but has some orange in him...
I agree with everyone else, we do have every shade of Gold here in the US and many are of the medium to deeper shades of Red. I would only quibble with the use of the color term 'brown'. Mine is only brown when he's muddy. I notice your pups ears are Strawberry Blonde, you can expect him to darken a bit to more closely match his ear color....at least that's pretty much the rule on this side of the pond.
I have seen mostly the regular gold, followed by the reddish brown gold and a couple of the creme versions here in NJ.
Of course they dont call this place the melting pot for nothing.
Selka and Gunner started out more of a lighter golden but have become darker as they have aged. Except for their faces which are now white.
I have also had the reddish golden goldens!
