How does your Golden Express Affection?

I wanted to put the general question out to everyone on here to share how their Goldens displays affection to them? Every dogs personality is slightly different and I thought it would be neat to ask the question about your personal experience.

My boy will often sort of fall back across me when we are on the couch or in bed and roll on his back and start wagging his tail and start making low grunting sounds and whining sounds while trying to lick my face(I try not to encourage that but it's pretty hard when he is so happy). When he is really happy and wants to play he will howl and make cute grunting growling sounds. When I haven't seen him for awhile he will dance in circles and sit next to me and whine and howl a bit it's fricken adorable. Pictures from bed this weekend.

Love the question! Looking forward to a bucketload of responses!

Oscar is very subtle is expressing affection. When we are away for several days our return is greeted by a few quiet tail wags. As with most goldens he is very expressive with his paws, wrapping one around our arm during rubs. In the morning he likes to circle around and position himself for rubs by his tail. As you said, "its fricken adorable!"

Thanks for sharing. Oscar sounds like a sweetheart and the paw around the arm is adorable. Sunny's fav spot for scratches is on his belly in and around his back legs. He isn't one to paw me too much unless he has a ball or a rope and wants to play tug or fetch.

Thank you for the question I can't wait to read more responses. Leo is very particular with me and my husband. I don't know if I made him this way or it is his personality but Leo is just an absolute baby with me. We cuddle he lays on me, if he is sick or anything he is extra mopey with me and just wants all the attention from me at all time. He just loves to lay on me and we are always next to each other. With my husband he is different he tries to play more and just lay next to him instead of on him and he is more attentive with him outside since he is the best at throwing the ball. Here is a pic of us cuddling. Can't imagine life without the daily cuddles he has no awareness of personal space and i dont mind!

What a wonderful relationship you and your husband have with him and it does sound like he is a bit ticked when you are gone for an extended duration but I guess that just means he missed you and or got out of his normal lapdog rhythm but Dogs can be weird sometimes... Love the pics, your boy is just adorable.

Amber has never been a lap dog but she does want to be where we are. One thing she does that I love is when I'm sitting at the table. She comes over and I give her a good ear and neck rub. Then I give her head some petting. She will then plop herself down at my feet. I took this just this morning.

Honey has a special routine for each of us. She hops onto the bed to wake Hubby up she he can give her belly rubs while she sings to him. The rest of the day she's at my side, resting on my feet or beside me on the couch. She's very generous with her kisses too.

When our adult kids come over she goes bananas, dancing around them, wiggling while singing and moaning. She'll take my son's arm (like Lassie did) and lead him to the treats.

LOL, she is in the 'Fur All Dawgies Only (no huumans aloud)3-15-07' thread, a fun place to gather. Sunny should stop by for a visit.
She also mumbles 'i love you' and now we're trying for 'ma ma'.

I love these stories! Charles, you said in a post that your pup looks like mine...he really does! My pup Aidan also loves to cuddle and snuggle! He likes to lay on his back and have his belly rubbed. I guess that’s a common thing! When me or my hubby come home, he does this wiggle type of walk and gets all excited. He’s also a big licker, ha! He’ll pick one of us and follow us around the house. It seems his favorite person between my and my husband is whoever is giving him the most attention that day, so it varies. He’s definitely a baby though! Now that he’s 8mo, he’s taking up most of our bed, but it’s so fun to cuddle with him

He is such a handsome cuddly boy so thanks for sharing the pictures and stories. Would you say that Aidan seems like a completely different dog than he was at 8 weeks? That has been my experience. I am single so Sunny only gets to experience other people when we have company, walks or go out or to my Sisters but he LOVES everyone and does the wiggle like your little man, we got rid of jumping at a young age so thank fully he doesn't jump on people now. He likes to press his side against people and then turns his head up at them while they give him affection. My queen size bed seems much smaller now :). I do wish there where more people from my area in the forum so we could get a group of Goldens together.

Cheers

Such a cute pic of Sunny! I’d love to get together with other people and their pups! I’ve been trying to find meet ups around my area here in TN or somewhere not too far away. I haven’t had any luck. unfortunately, I don’t have any info on his siblings either. Aidan and Sunny could almost be twins from the pics! We got him at 12 weeks, but he’s certainly different now! He does the same thing with putting his head on your leg and looking up, ha! He’s gotten to where he puts his head lower than his body when he wiggles and spins, then lays down for a belly rub. He’s better about not jumping, but we need to work on that a bit more as he occasionally will jump when he’s really excited. He started going through a fear period lately where he’s timid of new people. He’ll warm up to them, but shy’s away at first. I understand about the bed! Wish I’d gotten a king bed! Hopefully he doesn’t get too much bigger or I’ll soon have to kick my husband out of the bed, ha! His baby pic of his 1st truck ride looks like your little guys puppy pic :)

Thanks yeah they could be brothers :) well if you go far enough back I am sure they are related :). Sounds like Aiden is a great companion. Sunny has only shown fear to those big cooked bones at the pet store like when we walk past a shelf full of them and it freaks him out but not sure why. I don't buy them as they shatter too easy and could cause harm him..maybe it's the smell not sure. I am hoping Sunny has topped out on his growth too although when he curls up he takes up less room. The doe eyed tired retriever look after just waking up with ears drooping is my fav thing. Nice baby pic of Aidan.

When I get home: Hurry up and find a toy to bring to Dad! No toy, no problem: Sock, Dish towel, underwear are all suitable alternatives.

Dads going to bed: Grunt a bit until called up. Paw to the foot until invited to cuddle. Once invited, invade chest and arm pit like a WWF wrestler coming off the top rope.

Remind Dad when hand stops moving for 5 seconds or more (even if he's only petting a paw).

Ginger will be seven at the end of the year and, while she has definitely mellowed, she still has excessive greeting disorder when we come home, jumping and bouncing and pestering until we tell her to go get a toy. Most of the time she’ll spend laying next to me on the sectional, occasionally turning around and laying on my lap. At night she sleeps at the foot of our bed between my wife and I, pressed up against one of us or the other. (Yes, she sleeps on our bed, something that would horrify my dad and granddad who mainly thought of dogs as farm animals - critters - and not pets.)
