During the week the campground is not crowded, on the weekends, there are social activities including food & music! They have campsites, cabins, rental trailers, and even a tiny home! My husband & I try to stop there whenever we are in the area & have a few days to kick back & chill! I think this is North Carolina's best kept secret! LOL.

I've bookmarked this site! It has a lot of days open for the summer! Might have to do a long weekend there! Thanks for sharing your secret with us

I don't know anywhere in your area to suggest but I would give this advice. Where you go I would check with you vet to find out if it is an area of concern for anything like Lyme, Lepto and even K9 Flu and if so get immunized for them. I mention this as you're talking about being in the mountains in a cabin. I would think you'd probably be OK with ignoring K9 Influenza but the Lyme and Lepto (even though I'm not a fan of Lepto shots) you might really consider.

We just got back from our getaway and it was fantastic. I thought I would share where we stayed in case anyone else is looking for a place near Ashville, but wants a quiet dog friendly getaway. This place was VERY dog friendly-- it even has a chuck-it ball launcher hanging on the deck. And a set of dog water/food bowls. There's a fenced in portion off the back door for potty. The front deck has a gate to limit access to stairs down (handy when we ate lunch on front deck).

On property there are walking trails and a stream. Plus fish pond. Our dog loved the trails and stream. He loved being off leash and running the trail ahead of us, then coming back to us, and going ahead again. There were streams to cross, logs to jump over, and sticks to carry. We did that several times each day with him. Nearby there are lots of hiking trails and waterfalls to see, which we also did. Great place to detox, unplug (cellphone coverage is almost non-existent on mountain. Verizon got 1 bar) and just be in nature.

For anyone near Lake George NY I can recommend Canine Camp Getaway.
Canine Camp Getaway - The Dog Friendly Vacation!
I have gone once and it went very well for us. There are enough activities that you will actually have to schedule in your down time. It is entirely geared for spending time with your dog this is not just an I can go there with my dog vacation. While there we completed our TDI certifications for both dogs, we learned that JP loves agility and has been doing it ever since. Go to the link to see all the activities. Also your dog is welcome in the dining room for all meals and in the full size people pool.

That place is gorgeous!! And bonus when you can bring your fur baby. I am going to save that one in my saved places on vrbo for us.
