Thanks so much for the responses! Thankfully, Deacon has been a great little patient so far and for the most part, has tolerated the restrictions. We go for xrays in one more week and I think at that point we may be able to look at taking him for short walks and getting him into some hydrotherapy so we're keeping our fingers crossed. It has been a VERY long 3 weeks...and we're anxious to see the results of those first xrays to be assured everything is healing well!

We tried one of the braided bully sticks with Deacon and I was shocked at how quickly he unraveled the 3 threads!! It made me so nervous when he had 3 really skinny threads that I haven't given him any more of those! There is a great petstore close to where we live...I call it the Doggie Whole Foods...that has these 3 ft long bully sticks that we can cut into more manageable sized pieces. Seems to be the best value and helps us moderate how much he gets!

Good luck with you recovery! Sounds like so far so good.

You can also buy rubber treat dispensing toys and fill them with kibble. My dogs LOVE them. We have all sorts of them from different stores, vendors at shows and buying online: Check out JB Pet Online
