My 4 month female GR has started to hump 1.5 year old neutered GR boy. She does it when he lies on his back and he doesn't seem to care that much. Should I let it go or should I stop it? I have been trying to let them sort a lot of things out for themselves without getting in the middle of everything. Any advice greatly appreciated!
I have a 3 year intact male that my 17 week old puppy is always trying to hump. Gibbs, (his father) will not tell him to get off. He just stands there. At this point it is not a sexual act but I don't want the behavior to perpetuate when they're older. I just push the puppy off and say "ehh-ehh." That's what we are doing. I'm interested to see what else is suggested for my own knowledge.
We have never worried about it. Hazel and Lila would switch off and both seemed happy in both situations. It seemed to be usually associated with play.
My golden girl does it to my jack russell... When she was a pup, not sure what age it started and even still now. I stop it when they are inside and catch her doing it. But sometimes I see then do it outside. I will see an upswing in that behavior during her heat cycles too. My JRT has never had an issue with it. If that had been a male dog it would have been a different story. She overall is not a dominant dog but he just respects her. Its odd. Now my new foster dog, shes a year old female chi/min pin is very very dominant, and my JRT is handling it well but I could see he would not handle being humped from her. I curb even her other signs of dominance. I say it depends on how they react but it isnt polite and should be tried to stopped. IMO..
