Proper Thyroid Levels

Bentley's blood work came back and the vet said everything was normal, but when I saw the actual test, I see that his T4 level is 1.7 ug/dl (normal range is 1.1-4).

I remember reading that this reading is considered too low for a Golden and is not "normal" for the breed.

Does anyone have any more info for me on this? Thanks.

Did they only test total T4? Total T4 fluctuations are "normal", that is why a free T4 number is so very important. Do you have that number?

The report only says "Thyroxine (T4)/ Cholesterol test" and has values for T4 and CHOL.
