I love them in multiples. I would not recommend getting a second while the first was under a year of age as there is a lot of fundamental training that needs to be done in that first year to set a good foundation. But since yours is a year old, this is a good time to start looking.
The first two I had together were half-siblings. Juniper was 22 months old when Winter came home, and having her made his transition really easy. The caveat was that I did have to consciously make the effort to have individual training time with both of them so she didn't just train him, and he bonded to me as well. That part worked well--he is very much my dog (and is laying at my feet right now.) Turns out, he was also very much bonded to her as well, as he has been rather clingy and mopey since she passed a month ago, even with three other Goldens and a Cavalier in the house. My other dogs have been less affected by her passing, as they are accustomed to being part of a larger pack, whereas Win and Juni had three years as just a twosome. Winter is back left in my sig picture, which is from Christmas, and Juni second from right in the front. Girly back right is Breeze, and the boy front right is her 4yo son Butch, girl second from left in front is her 2yo daughter Bonnie, and the girl on the far left is her granddaughter Wings , 11 mos(her mom is Butch's sister who lives with friends most of the time.)
