If I wanted to continue to breed and compete, I had to cut back the number of dogs I had. Bindi had given me 21 gorgeous, healthy babies in 2 litters-more than some girls have in 3 litters.

At the same time, a friend approached me looking for a special Golden for her brother and his family. She knew Bindi, and wondered if I would consider placing her.

With many tears, I decided it would be a great opportunity for Bindi to have a family of her own.

It's only been a few weeks, but Bindi (now Lucy), has fit in beautifully and her new Mom joked about how Bindi followed her everywhere and how she loves to play with the kids.

I did not know this, but Bindi's new Mom is a severe diabetic. I am also diabetic, and had never noticed Bindi acting any differently around me.

One day recently, Bindi's Mom did not show up for softball practice. Someone was sent to her house, where they found her unconscious on the floor. Bindi was wrapped tightly around her, and would not leave her. When the EMT's arrived, Bindi had to be leashed and placed in her crate-she was NOT going to let them take her Mom without her.

In retrospect, the family believes that Bindi was sensing something wrong earlier that day.

Bindi had been with me for almost 4 years but within a matter of a few short weeks has entwined herself so deeply within this family, you would think they had raised her.

Please don't ever hesitate to go with an older Golden for fear they won't adapt and become a member of your family. They will-it's their nature to love and be loved.
Thank you for sharing Bindi with us-what an amazing and lovable girl!!
How old was Bindi when this lady adopted her? Was she 4?

Bindi was almost 4-she will be 4 at the end of September. She is from the litter born while I was in the hospital having my unplanned heart surgery
