As we head into fall, I am considering whether Towhee will be retired from obedience without her UD. I spoke with Barb this morning and we discussed taking a wait n see attitude once she comes out of this upcoming season.

Finch is hopefully going to finish her CD next month (she is home with me, finished with her season and not bred).

Brady -- I need to send in a few entries, but also need to balance that with a few scary incidents he has encountered these last 2 trials (Utility). I learned today that a full brother of his died suddenly & unexpectedly so there is that consideration as well.

Aedan I am continuing to work and have no plans on entering him until next spring, he is also learning agility.

Faelan is my beautiful boy, happy in training, disappointed if the front door closes without him, but retired none the less -- unless and until I teach him a few Excellent & Masters rally signs -- I really should LOL

Heading out to a rental in a few minutes. Scheduled for 2 hours but I am thinking it will be shorter.

Towhee and Brady did not go to their obedience trial today and luckily I got extremely busy, working through lunch hours and into the evening hours so I did not mail in my entries for several upcoming shows.

Brady has an ear infection and a hot spot so he is on antibiotics, spray & ear meds.

Towhee has some odor to her ears and so was also put on meds (they were both at the vets yesterday for rabies booster and TBD blood panels).

Towhee is also turning heads and getting seriously groomed by the boys, and even Finch is paying her read end attention -- not in season yet but too attractive to bring to obedience trials for sure.

So I am thinking just Finch & Aedan this evening for training ,,,, I will hold off on training Brady until he is off all meds -- right now he is scheduled for 3 weeks

Brady's hot spot looks fully healed so I will start up his training again (on his flank so wanted to protect his CER)

Tonight, traffic & work permitting, Aedan will go to agility class. I have Clean Run magazines dating back to 2001 loaded in the Xterra to donate. I am keeping 2018 & 2019 issues for now. My instructor keeps back issues and also hands out to new students so they will be put to good use. .I am glad I found out since I have been slowly tossing the old issues LOL glad they can be reused! Like all the ribbons from a few weeks ago!

I was even able to donate a crate liner to someone in need...I use metal ones since a certain girlie destroys the plastic ones, and I shudder to think what could happen if she ingested one!

Not much training since Sunday other than games.

Excellent class with Aedan last night

In many scenarios I was the 'demo dog' with the instructor 'handling' and I found I was totally into it including running to the treat box to try to self reward LOL guess it's a golden thing

I forgot to log my training session last week, so here goes:

After work I took both dogs out in the yard individually and worked various drills. For Rocket, it was mostly jumping because he loves it and for Eevee it was as mostly heeling, finishes, and recalls. It was all offleash for both, but I will need to put the leash on Eevee to help prevent perpendicular sits on halts. I’m not entirely sure why she started doing that, but I think it’s just easier to look up at my face that way.

Yesterday I took Rocket to Sunnyside by himself for the first time in a quite awhile and we had a ton of fun. We ran one RE course while doing commentary for others on some of the signs, then demonstrated a few that can be tricky on the handler, and helped some of the other handlers with pivot footwork.

Then we took a break and headed over to the obedience ring and got some help from a seasoned obedience person on teaching the broad jump. Plus did some offleash heeling and a recall just for fun before finishing up for the day. I’m very pleased with our progress on heeling. He seems happy again and I think this long break from training/trialing has been good for us both.

Last nights rental was quick & fun Plus educational LOL

My thought going in was basic heeling & recalls -- for all dogs Nothing fancy although the older dogs had signals and/or command discrimination. I didn't even set up any equipment other than 2 cones for Figure 8s.

They all did fairly well although Ms Finchie does love tennis balls!! I don't think I have ever thrown one for her and in speaking with Barb, she doesn't remember ever doing so either! Finch fell for the ole tennis ball being thrown behind me while heeling several times although for her final one -- where she started to leave heel position but remembered her job -- she got very heavily rewarded I think the older dogs were kind of like 'child, you only get re-inforcement when you remember what you're doing' LOL

Not even an hour for 5 dogs but short 'n sweet was my game plan
