Yesterday, before heading out to Aedan's CCA event, I set up a new set of weaves -- portable and easily customizable. I set them up on the driveway with a remote treat n train -- the dogs all had fun

Aedan easily earned his CCA -- I would post a pic but am honestly concerned about the ads or whatever that have started popping up around posted pictures LOL So if you are a friend on FB or a member of my doggie family group, you can view the pics there

I always find CCA evaluations interesting when a judge is thoughtful in discussing what he/she is seeing. You learn so much about not only the breed but perhaps as importantly, how different judges can look at the same dog and have differing opinions. The judge I stewarded for was very forthcoming and kind in discussing both the strong points and the weak points she found with each dog and was unhesitating when asked whether a team should consider the breed ring.

She, btw, was the same judge who called a heeling pattern for the gaiting -- much easier for us obedience people to understand ; normal for a few steps, fast, normal, about turn, fast, normal halt --- loved it!

The other 2 judges kept their comments -- well absent. I found that disconcerting.

Today I have a rental and am also planning on working some with agility -- today's plan is to take my pause table out of storage and work some with that as well as some other element of weaves; I have not decided on that yet but I have recently started working with Weaves that WOW so while yesterday's session was an introduction to the new poles and the start of round the clock entries, today's may be entries at speed? we'll see.

The set of weaves I ordered and played with yesterday:

Yesterday we did more weave work -- I am fully confident that once Finch 'gets it' she will be a strong weaver. Aedan is taking the same learning path his father did I think he will have a moderate speed through the poles once he fully understands all his upcoming lessons -- Finch is tiny enough that she might well have blazing speed in the poles.

We had a rental where I only brought the 3 older dogs -- Faelan because he needs both the physical & mental work (plus I just love him) and Towhee & Brady so the emphasis would be on Utility. A friend had the rental before me so we overlapped some to provide distractions for each other. All Utility work done and again all 3 gloves (#2, #1, #3). All the gloves were washed with bleach yesterday so I also wanted to make sure I would not need to wash again due to scent

So far today I set up a few hoops and the agility table; for Aedan & Finch it was just slow increases in sending distances, for Faelan, Towhee & Brady there were patterns with the hoops and sending to the table. My agility instructor mentioned she wants a down on the table so I worked that with the older dogs (actually puppy sit ups) but the younger dogs was mostly just getting on the table -- treats were hot dogs. Aedan had a few downs but Finch will be sits for now since her downs are not bullet proof and I need/want to keep the 2 behaviors completely separate.

T storms are moving in so that may be it for training for the dogs for the day, but I have a few webinars I should 'attend' today while I have time so all is good.

My town has a Buy Nothing page where you can give & receive items for free. You post what you would like to give (some post what they need) and people respond if they are interested. Meetups are generally in public places for safety reasons.

Anyway, today I had a few meetups to give things away and they were all in a straight line on 1 road.

So Brady was loaded up and got to practice some at my gun club, and at a few schools -- both schools had wide covered entryways. So Brady got some additional exposure and practice in different places in the rain

This morning we trained scent articles with Faelan, Towhee, Brady & Aedan

Finch had heeling, wait & recall practise.

All of the above were done inside (to save time) with an open container of hot dog training treats on the counter (Finch did really well at driving harder to succeed )

Tonight, traffic permitting, is agility class with Aedan

Last night, between all kinds of tornado warning alerts going off and pretty bad driving conditions, Aedan & I made it to agility class.

The courses included teeter work, tire, table, rear cross, post-turn, peddle to the metal to beat out dogs out of a long tunnel to a 180 degree turn that needed to be handled etc.

I do need to work more on Aedan's ability to tuck his hind feet/legs/hips into a tight sit since that will be his teeter end behavior and right now he finds it difficult to tuck into a tight sit on a decline ... progress not perfection though!

He did well.

On Sunday, I took Rocket to a park and worked on Novice exercises. There were people running/walking on the trail, kids playing and screaming, other dogs, etc. and he really did great. We haven't trained somewhere like that in quite awhile, so I was very pleased with the amount of focus that I got. I worked on my own footwork quite a bit while heeling, and saw improvement. Still seeing a bit of lagging on outside turns, so maybe going to try Catherine Zinsky's paisleys for the F8.

We've been doing lots of little drills with Eevee (should have been better about this when she was really young, but.......) - spins both directions, sit-stand-down in random order, shake, etc. She is hilarious and so enthusiastic. Precision isn't really her game right now, but that's fine. She's not even 7 months old yet, so we've got time to get there. Her first real conformation show is next weekend, so we've got about a week and a half to get ready for it. She's already hit 22" and I have a feeling she'll be bigger than other bitches that are older than her, but she's well within standard right now, so shouldn't be an issue. I'm going to ask to have her wicketed at class on Sunday to see how tall she really is.

Brady earned his 1st Utility Q today and this was after the guy in the next ring was so deafening loud & harsh that the judge rejudged the 1st article -- Brady recovered and well Almost everyone (except the loud man) apologized and mentioned he had been talked to about not bellowing like that -- and with the german Open commands yet! It really was a flinchable performance but Brady pulled through Good boy!

Towhee can so very close!! She stood rather than sat for the sit signal, and the judge mentioned she pivoted on the MSFE -- she did kind of - her front feet went left, left and her rear feet remained stationary when the judge came up behind her and on her left. I'll need to work on that.

I took a pic of the glove setup to work with the pressure I sensed; glove #3. both dogs did great but that setup will be a good proofing exercise.

Overall a really nice day!

Thank you!!

Finchie (finally) came into heat yesterday! Over 2 months late but I got her safely up to Mike & Barb's for safekeeping. She should now be able to attend the fairly local trials in early November -- I need to talk with Barb on whether she should just stay with them until then so Barb can train her since I still don't 'do' Novice since the rule changes ...

Raw food pickup yesterday so Aedan went with me and had his training amid the cars coming in & out, the highway etc. I took advantage of a few things like chain link fencing and curbs Heeling, Get- it get-it get-it come games and other things

Faelan & Aedan had a few core conditioning style exercise like backing up through a low ladder, spins, circles, etc

Then Faelan, Towhee & Brady went to a rental where we worked on some fun & fast Utility exercises to help Towhee & Brady kind of destress; stereo on loudly dancing and playing games etc

Towhee & Aedan went for hikes with Paul while Faelan & Brady missed their hike with me heading over to Sunfire Mountain with Ms Finchie but as mentioned they did have some physical conditioning
