Have to figure something out.

A neighbor apparently likes those M80 monsters and Aedan is reacting. Problem being the jerk is setting them off before dark; like around 7pm with no notice to neighbors.

So, I need to either not train a 2nd time or figure something else out. Problem being I like agility at night.

Anyway, this morning was heeling & signal type games.

A neighbor started up the staging for & pouring of cement (driveway) right next door around 5:30am

So, what's a dog trainer to do? Train her dogs amid the hooting & hollering & yelling & beep beeps of the cement truck of course.

Finch was barking away inside the house every time the men started yelling, but was all business when she was outside doing her thing all the dogs did heeling, ladder work & the older dogs did the dog walk...I realized Finch needed more time in the learning stages of the dogwalj than I had time for, so she switched off to waits, recalls & F&F practice.

And yeah way too early per town ordinance so perhaps one of my other neighbor called it in ... me I just took advantage of the noise

This morning's setup : Back ring gates with stanchions. 2 agility jumps set up DJ style. Chunk of garlicky steak at the go out spot

Faelan, Towhee, Brady & Aedan all had short heeling/signal pattern with the actual signal portion about 10 feet away from that enticing steak facing away from the steak. Faelan & Towhee are on to this trick, while Brady & Aedan obviously had split attention !

Then they were set up and sent to the steak followed by directed jumping.

Finch had heeling, stands, returns, recalls & finishes without the steak being out...I will be working on this as time allows.

Good sessions and I think they enjoyed their challenges or more likely the rewards from succeeding.

CGC class with Eevee went really well again. I moved to a different side of the training room instead of my usual spot to see if she acted any different, but it didn't matter to her. Of course the hardest thing for her is sitting nicely to get pets from a stranger. I'm slowly trying to move the lure up my pants seam a little bit to get her to start looking up during heeling, which worked pretty well. She did start to lag a bit after we had gone down and back a few times. Sit-stays, down-stays, and recalls were pretty good! She sits straighter in front when I've called her from the end of the leash than she does with a doodle/Rally Novice call-to-front, so that's something to work on. Love the progress this puppy is making - only wish I had more time to work with her!

My homework for this evening (I do not want to be outside in case neighbors start with the loud bangers), reminding me of a lot of steps I have glossed over on Precision Heeling. I will be needing to rewatch & take notes etc

I have not yet decided on my training plan for the day, which probably means I should just let the dogs hang out LOL Most of my dogs are oblivious to the booming fireworks some people seem to like, but both Aedan & Finch can react; Aedan jumps while Finch tells the people off with a barking spree.

It is too hot to work them outside this afternoon and there will no doubt be fireworks this evening/tonight. Heck, there were even those M80s sporadically going off during out hikes this morning -- I stuck with public trails where the dogs need to be leashed just in case people were being ummm noisy so no harm, no foul and no CER I would need to worry about.

I have another FDSA Workshop to watch & take notes on so perhaps that will do for the day And rewatch the Formalizing Hand Position (actually transitioning from pocket hand)

Yesterday we worked some heeling with Go Outs & Jumping

This afternoon (very hot) we worked some fun heeling, Go Outs, dogwalk, ladder, weaves, signals and directed jumping as well as some pocket hand/ Elbow surprise leaps

Finch is on the limited activity list since she twisted her paw in the crate on the 4th -- so she is not being trained or walked right now.

Yesterday I worked both dogs at the same time for the first time and they did pretty well! We did stays: sit, down, and stand. We also did wait and recall. They did great! Very proud.
