Fake service dogs are one of my pet peeves! Too many stories about people out for a walk with their leashed service dog being attacked by some fake service dog who is running wild off leash. I remember being so angry one day when I used to work at the vet clinic-I am not very assertive, but I wish I would've said something! I overheard a client who was bragging to the front desk about how she bought her Shih-tzu a service vest so she could take him in to Kroger and other places with her. This is a vet clinic who should know the dangers of fake service dogs and nobody said anything-I wish I would've, but I was "just a groomer (what do you know?)" and too shy so I didn't. I don't care if you think your dog is "good enough to pass for a service dog;" too many people think their dogs are sweet angels and have no idea that they actually own an aggressive dog. Case in point the "sweet" off leash pit bull who came out of nowhere at a campground with leash rules and attacked my leashed and oblivious to his presence golden (only inches from my baby brother's head.) Fortunately some friends were there and helped my mom beat the dog off of Autumn and get the owner to grab it before it did any damage. Imagine those same people putting a service vest on that pit bull!
