I want to start by saying I am new to this site, and stumbled across it while looking at golden retriever sites......
My nightmare all started the second weekend in January my beloved Blaze just wasn't himself. Blaze started vomitting that just wouldn't stop. Not to be too graphic but in the vomit I found 2 silly bands......
I took Blaze to the vet and they suggested doing x-rays where they found a mass blockage. Blaze underwent surgery where they had to remove 18 inches of his lower intestine.
Blaze came home a couple days later. He wouldn't eat or drink by himself so for the next 5 days I siringe fed and watered him. With this issue and still having a reflux issue, back to the vet we went. I made the decission to leave Blaze with them for a couple of days to see if they could re-hydrate him and get the reflux under control.
On January 26th, Blaze's 6th birthday, the vet called to say she couldn't understand why the reflux was still happening. We decided to give him Berium to see if there was more blockage. Unfortunitely it turned out to be more blockage that since the first surgery took so much of the lower intestine that there was nothing that they could do.
I made the decision to bring blaze home for the night to celebrate his birthday and let myself and children say good bye.
Losing my furbaby was like losing one of my children. I'm hoping this site will help ease the pain of losing him.
