Remembering Holly & Bruce
Today would have been Holly's birthday - she was born in 1994 and we first saw her when she was only a few days old. Holly was Ginny's sister , same parents different litter. Before she was 12 months old she had ruptured both cruciate ligaments and at one stage the vet did say that things weren't looking good and he had fears that she would never walk. Holly was a fighter though and she came through and although in later years she had arthritis in her knees she was still running in 2008. Sadly after we lost Ginny in 2007 Holly was never the same - the light was going out of her eyes and I swear that she stayed long enough to teach Quinn some manners before she succumbed to kidney failure and a massive stroke which was too much for her to fight.
Bruce was not my dog, he was bought into the rescue centre where I worked and he was rehomed to friends of mine who had recently lost their dog. I was privileged and proud to be his honorary Auntie and saw him weekly when he came to Dog Club. He always greeted me with a wriggle and a grin, and I was heartbroken when he was sent to the bridge 5 years ago after a battle with cancer.
Run free Holly & Bruce, Hols stick close to Grandad and Bruce with your "Uncle Ron" - I know he loved you both as much as his own dogs.
Kelly, Ginny, Ralph & Holly - Forever in my heart
"I miss the wagging little tail,
I miss the plaintive pleading wail,
I miss the wistful loving glance,
I miss the circling welcome dance"
