Is my puppy purebred?

Hello everyone!

I have had my golden puppy for about a month now and got him when he was 12 weeks old. He's not super fluffy and has small eyes according the vet. I keep having people confuse him with a lab or ask if he's full golden. This has me concerned although I love him to death and it wouldn't make the slightest difference. I just wanted to get the opinions of everyone here before I invested in a DNA test.

I got my baby Jaxson as a gift so unfortunately I did not meet his breeder or parents. However, I do have his AKC paperwork that shows he is a purebred golden.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. My girl is very typey (to my eyes at least) and I have people CONSTANTLY asking if she is a mutt, or a goldendoodle, etc. My favorite foot in mouth one was someone told me she's too pretty to be a purebred. *record scratch* What?

People were also refusing to believe that my bridge boy was a golden mix. Most often descriptors was "rotti mix" or "setter mix" but I've seen his momma. A poorly bred golden who got knocked up by a mutt.

Don't worry about it. I have 2 Goldens that I get asked all the time what they're mixed with. My girl was once called an English Shepherd. I have found that many people don't know what a Golden is supposed to even look like.

He's a cute little boy. I think he's probably a mix.

Not sure. Think he could be Pure bred. You might do the DNA test to find out for sure.

I actually have a thread asking the same question! I was concerned with the coat on my 12 week old female as I also had people asking if she was a lab. Our other golden was very fluffy as a puppy and still is at 5 years old
I have been looking up pictures of other Golden's at 3 months and they really do come in all shapes and sizes!
My older golden is a registered pure bred with papers and people have asked if she was a mix...so I really don't think it matters as there are really so many variations of what a golden retriever can look like!
As long as they are healthy...that's all that matters!
I have attached some pics of my girls to show how different their coats can be!
