I lost my German Shepherd, Nikki, about 17 months ago under similar circumstances. She just did not seem like herself, but I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong. My neighbor came over and asked me what was wrong with her. I had an appt that day for my other dog and brought Nikki instead. Who would have known that by the end of the day I would be saying good bye to her. Her abdomin was filled with water, her spleen was swelled and the ultrasound showed something in her lungs, along with the numbers on her bloodwork.
You did the right thing. Just remember the good times.
