I would suggest keeping the new puppy in a crate in the same room as where the people are. He is coming into the Jack's territory. After crating a while, then put a babygate separation between them. Just move very slowly in introducing them without separation. Yes, have some time where they get introduced with Jack on a leasy so he can easily be corrected.
It is most important that You be in charge -- leader of the pack and set the pecking order. Keep feeding Jack first, he gets to be first out the door, etc.
