Today I laid on the floor with my 12 year old girl, Bailey, as she drifted off to a more peaceful place. As the vet sedated her we stared into each others eyes... Oh the eyes of a golden.... What love I have known from looking into my girls eyes. I know it was the right decision, but the pain right now is so big... I miss her so much...she was my first dog and my first child....when does this get better....I feel so empty..... I can't believe I will never snuggle up to her nose again.... Or brush her golden coat or make her food or give her ice cream.... The list is never-ending.... I just miss her.... I'm so sad tonight..

So sorry for your loss of Bailey. I know what you mean about the eyes of a Golden. Somewhere her spirit is running strong and free. Hoping that time will dull the sadness and emptiness and leave you with memories of the great times with Bailey.

I'm so sorry and wish I could answer your questions. All I can say is the fact you know that you made the right decision is the beginning. It is a hard decision but you accepted the pain so Bailey would not have to. You don't forget, at least I don't, you adjust to the new normal.

I have been there watching my first dog Brandy pass away early last year. She was sedated and went off very peacefully in our home. I cried for days.. it isn't easy at first and you will find yourself crying just thinking about her while you are at work or just driving. I would try and occupy myself with other things to keep me busy. Working out was extremely helpful. Time was the only thing that truly healed me. I told myself I would never get a dog again - it was just too painful losing one and now I have my puppy Keisel (8 weeks old) and I love him so much. He doesn't replace Brandy at all, she will always have a special place in my heart just like Bailey will for you. I pray that the days will get easier for you and know that it does get better!! I'm so sorry for your loss!

I'm so sorry you lost your girl Bailey. This is truly one of the hardest things we will ever have to do in our life...make that difficult decision to say goodbye. But the time comes in everything's life, be it human or animal, where nothing more can be done. You were her loving advocate to the end, she knew it, and you helped ease her pain. Cry and grieve for her as you must do, talk about her with us as much as you can. We all understand exactly how you feel, because we are all in various stages of grieving ourselves. I think only other animal lovers really get the depth of our sadness in their loss. Be kind to yourself, take it day by day. We will reunite someday with them, and the love for them never dies. Hugs
