| Oh my word !!! Thought I'd give you a little update on Kai, I'm having a little trouble with his name when he's being mischievous. I keep calling him 'Fluke' which isn't fair, mind you 'Fluke, is usually followed by every other name in our family ! It surely must be 'an age thing'. You're right people, he has lifted my spirits. Well I spoke to soon about the stairs, it didn't take him long to discover he could manoeuvre them. I have put a gate across them for the moment as they are very twisty and I didn't want him stumbling or slipping and hurting his young bones. 'Bob Dylan' you're right he certainly does keep you on your toes. I fell asleep on the sofa a couple of days ago, and woke up to a pile of imitation coal dust, he had taken it upon himself to empty the fireplace of coals and play ball and chew them, I was horrified in case they made him ill - though up to now there as been no detrimental affect, thank goodness. He's been out on the field behind my home with my son and little grand kids, they let him off lead for a moment, just to stretch his legs, he loved it and met a couple of other dogs, he was real excited, but the minute they took an interest in him, he ran back to my son, like I said before, he's a real softie. He's also been watching TV again and will spend up to 15 - 20 minutes just staring. His favourites are lions, tigers, cheetahs, his little head moves and tilts, as they cross the screen, it's hilarious, even the family are surprised just how much he likes it. Simba, my first golden, used to do this, though she'd run at the TV and bark whenever animals were on the screen !! Kai just loves watching. You know, is it that I miss my boys so much, that I'm putting all these coincidences together? I really don't know. Just that when I'm holding and stroking him, I feel close to the boys, and I often hold his litte face and look into his eyes, asking if my goldens' souls are in there too ???? It's like there are so many similarities along with new characteristics all mixed up together. Well I'd better go now, need some sleep, will catch up with all your exploits soon, he's just taking so much time up, I need to get organised :-) |

| Serendipity For me the best part of the story is you wanting/finding a golden that needed you as much as you needed him. And I know we are reading more into this.... but I like the 60 day interval between the birth of Kai and the loss of Fluke and Harry ... that means that a new life was just beginning as theirs was over. Are those old souls in there? I would be asking the same question. Timing is everything. You needed time to absorb the shock of your devastating loss. You needed the experience of fostering. And the message that you were looking had to go out after the breeder had decided that Kai was not going to work out but before Kai had moved on to another home. Everything fell into place. And with Kai now being 5 months old you neatly sidestepped the whole experience of puppy teething. Kai is a very handsome boy. Still very much a puppy. I am so very happy for everyone involved and wish you many happy years together. |
