| This is why I worry now that P&G has taken over Natura... |

| maybe a dumb question, but if dogs can eat a raw diet (no way to guarantee raw chicken has no salmonella, right?) then why does dry food need to be recalled if it has the 'potential to be contaminated with salmonella'? to reduce the risk on humans?

| Strictly speaking of pet foods, and not recalls, I had to take the boys off of California Natural because something happened... I used it for years with Comet and Dakota. No issues whatsoever. I used it for 6 months or so with Gilmour and Milo. NO issues whatsoever. Then, starting immediately (from the very first bowl) with two fresh bags I bought, Gilmour started to refuse to eat all of a sudden, and Milo (the ultimate chow hound) started nibbling instead of wolfing it down. After an entire bag of this, I decided something was up. Their stool quality also changed. This occured about 6 weeks after the buy-out. I took the unopened bag back to Wylie Wagg and exchanged it for Fromm. Everything has been fine since. We're not going back. I'm not saying it changed for sure. I'm just reporting what happened to us. |

| does dry food need to be recalled if it has the 'potential to be contaminated with salmonella'? to reduce the risk on humans? IMO, the dry dog food is given to the dog every meal until the bag of food is done. If that bag is contaminated you have systematically fed your dog poison for days/weeks. If you are feeding raw it is less likely that for days and weeks you will be feeding contaminated food. As you will be changing up and and most likely not all the raw products are contaminated. One or two feedings may make your dog not feel well but probably wouldn't be life threatening as their systems can handle it but over and over would definately cause problems. Any way that is my thoughts on the subject.

| I went into Petsmart last weekend to get my guys' food (Eukanuba Naturally Wild), and it was all gone due to the recall. Luckily I didn't need any more food, I was just gonna grab some since I was out shopping. Our bag that we have currently is safe. I didn't realize Procter & Gamble owned Eukanuba.

| There was never any salmonella in the food. It was found in the factory, so to be safe they recalled the food produced at the factory during that time.
