Attention caregivers...

Hi all,

I just wanted to thank everyone who has given their prayers and support the last few weeks.

I have been reading threads when I have time...and have noticed there are many here in the same situation, caring for elderly parents, dementia, etc.

There are so many of us here maybe we can all support each other. I realize this is a dog forum, so I would like to start a live chat room for us to use. If anyone is interested please pm me, let me know and we can get this set up.

Blessings,

Julie

P.S. I hope I am not violating any standards here, just trying to help. If I am I apologize in advance.

if you clik on comunity and then social groups, at the bottom is an option to create new group, the social group will never get lost when the forum is busy and will always be readly available. once the group is created any GRF member will be able to join it and it will be added to their home page

not sure if this link will work

I started it, here's the link. http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...php?groupid=34

I've been through Physical Therapy with my FIL( RIP Pop Pop), 3 surgeries/ 2 Physical Therapies with my MIL, 2 surgeries/ 1 Physical Therapy with my Dad, my Mom's recent back surgery, and now my Dad's impending Back surgery. It's been raining and pouring a bit for me lately too.

I know how you feel Julie....

I have a question. Can replies to the Group be notified like PM's are? Would make it a little easier for the Caregiver, as they have such little time already. Seeing the email alert would save seconds, but they are precious seconds.

i will check with yung, at the moment i know no pm is received,

My mummy and i took care of my dad from the time i was 11, it took the doctors five years to finally give his disease a name Motor Neurone Disease, at this point they gave him 12 mths to live he died of lung cancer four years later. The same year mum was diagnosed with COPD and i became her soul care giver so I do know what a hard and thankless job it is, but i also know we wouldn't have it any other way

Mist, that is so much for a young girl to be burdened with, I'm so sorry. But no, we wouldn't have it any other way. Is your Mom still with you today?

The Caregivers Group has 3 members now, so it's gotten noticed. The post/reply seems to take some getting used to. If you hadn't mentioned the Social Group function, I'd not have thought to make one.

I have a thought, rather than a PM email message, can those in that Social Group have a indicator, like an 'invite' visible in their status to show that there is a post/reply waiting to be read?

no, mum passed away 6yrs ago last saturday, miss her every day, but unlike my brothers i don't have the guilt of wishing i had done more, spent more time with her.

With the uk social group, i click on the small arrow along side the name of the last person to post, and then work back through until till i have found the last post i've read.

Every-time a new person posts they are in the uk I send a wall post with a link to the uk social group inviting them to join, at the moment i just click on my social group every day to check for new posts, the UK members are a chatty bunch so usually there is alwways something new.

i think by having it a a sub group rather than on the main forum it has created a little family with in a much larger community, people seem more willing to share with out worrying what others think about them

thanks to Rob, who seems to know more about how things work on this forum than anyone . there is a way to create an email subscription, I have also added it to your social group in case the post ever gets lost

When you go into your group you should see a drop down list in the right hand corner (below the pictures) called "group tools"

Click on that and you should see how you would like to get an e-mail subscription to that forum. -( No e-mail notifaction, Daily e-mail notification, or weekly notification) . Pick one of them and hit the Add Subscription button at the bottom of that page.
