Jersey is beautiful, I will say a prayer for him today. It is always scary when they have surgery of any kind. HUGS!

Thanks so much everyone! Jersey came out of surgery about an hour and 1/2 ago (I just got home from work). Everything went great. The offending tooth was removed. It was just starting to show signs of infection, so he'll be on an antibiotic. The rest of them were cleaned and are looking decent.

The most interesting part, though, is that his lump disappeared. I tried to help the tech find it this morning so we could get him shaved in the right place, but after 30 minutes of searching I had to give up. The vet tried finding it shortly after, and again when they put him on the table, and again after they knocked him out... and nothing. We knew there was inflammation around it and he had to be on a steroid/antihistamine for the last 10 days or so because something set some crazy allergy off and he was having problems with his eyes. He finished that on Monday. So we're assuming that the steroid knocked out the inflammation and that it either shrunk so that we can't feel it or the body was able to process and dispose of it. Again, we knew it was benign (either basal cell or cutaneous something or other from the aspiration we did a while back), and it was definitely there when we saw the vet to get the medicine 2 weeks ago. So I'm going to chalk it up to a little Christmas miracle (less shaving! no stitches or staples!! and best of all no cone of shame!!!) and hope that it doesn't come back now that he's off the medicine.

Thanks again for all your good thoughts. It means a lot to both of us!

And I was just about to post you've got nothing to worry about looks like that won't be necessary now. Glad to hear all went well and no bump to remove.

Of course you still have to spoil him rotten...he's sure a good looking boy!

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

Hi, I was just logging in to say I hope all goes well and see he is already out of surgery. I saw the black spot on his tongue, my second golden had that too.
Happy holidays!

Prayers for Jersey. I'm always nervous when mine are having anesthesia..... just a normal reaction. Keep us posted.

Sending good thoughts for Jersey!! But he will be just fine! And yeah, he is pretty darn handsome!

Are you still in the Charlotte area?

Edited to say glad to see he did well!! Weird about the missing lump though! Hope that thing stays away!

Thanks again everyone! Jersey's doing pretty well today. He's not quite sure what to make of me running his food through the blender and he seems to be a little sore, but all in all he's recovering well.

Yep, I'm still here! I bought a house in Indian Trail, so I don't expect to be going anywhere. I absolutely love it here!
