A Poem Inspired by Reno and Molly

The love we shared was special
Just between us two

Although people think they understand
They really have no clue

I taught you how to laugh and play
I calmed some of your fears

When the world came crashing down on you
I licked away your tears

I have one thing that I must say
Before I have to go

Something real important
Something you should know

This bond we have will never fade
It's big and strong and true

Although you'll no longer see me
I'm always here for you

I have loved you all my life
I'll love you more tomorrow

I wish that I could find some way
To displace all your sorrow

I know your heart is hurting
I know you feel alone

But I'll be waiting patiently
Until you too come home

I'll greet you with my goofy smile
Wag my tail and say

I'm so glad that you're finally here
Let's go run and play

Aw, Laurie, my heart aches with the pain of your loss. When I first read about Reno yesterday, I wanted to say something to you to help ease the pain. Everything I thought of just seemed inadequate, so I just sat here and cried. Molly came and smooshed her snout between my hands and starting licking the tears off my face. That was when the idea of the poem came along.

I am so sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry more. I just wanted to be there for you. Kisses and hugs from Molly and me.
