I am glad that hearing Tia's gentle woof gave you comfort. I think she was sending you a message that she is okay and always with you

You remain in my thoughts. I'm guessing you are still having those feelings of disbelief that dear Tia is no longer with you. It's so very painful to cope with isn't it?
Oh dear - here come the tears again...

Thanks again for your oh so special candles as both T and I go through this adjustment phase.

When we are at work or out shopping we have always 'known' that we are a family unit even though I could not bring her to those places. There is a certain strength in this knowing. This is how I feel right now. I know that we are still family even though she is physically right here beside me. Reviewing the million photos that I took of her over the years helps keep me connected with her don't worry, be happy look.

I am trying resist thinking of this situation in the darkest manner. I am reading a book about the afterlife which has inspired me to think of her like a butterfly. In life she was a caterpillar, confined to a body and a certain space, her illness confined her further into a cocoon and now she has been set free to fly and wander and is made up of the most beautiful colours. The only problem is that I gave her a part of me to take with her so now I feel odd as if I have lost a limb so my feelings are oh so strange.

The Buddhists say that nothing is the same as this exact moment. Things are constantly changing as are my feelings. They change from shock, to being in surreal state, to sorrow, to pride, confusion, etc. etc. I had forgotten how fluid grief can be. i do not know what is going to set my tears off next or even what will inspire me.

At least I have Hudsie. I cannot bring myself to think about what it would be like without him smiling at me.

Eeeee Lyn, it won't be long until you have your own grinning clown to lift your spirits too I hope that the snow hasn't been too much of a bother for you!!

What a lovely thought. Sounds like the book is offering you a fair amount of comfort and strength, along with your photographs of Tia. And of course Hudson. So glad you have him to lean on. I don't seem to know anything about him though. Have I managed to miss stuff or are you keeping him a secret??

I'd like to think the Buddhists are on the right track, they seem to have some sound thoughts.

Yes, two weeks today little Ruby will begin her life in our family. No doubt there will be photographs aplenty to share! I cannot wait to feel the presence of a dog in the house again. It is just wrong without. Can't explain it any better than that - it's just wrong!

We've had some snow, but we're too close to the west coast to get much. Much as I love it though, I'd rather have some Aussie sunshine!

It will definitely have been Tia's gentle bark you heard in your dreams letting you know that she is still with you. The first few days, weeks, months are the hardest. The pain will never quite go away but time will help you focus on all of your wonderful memories with her. I'm so glad you have Hudson to give you golden hugs, he must be missing her lots aswell. Love the idea of Tia as a beautiful butterfly aswell, glad that the book is bringing you some comfort at this heartbreaking time. It really is so difficult. The loss of a beloved pet is devastating and has so much impact take care, we understand.

That book also suggest that we are guided to signs of comfort at just the right time. I bought that book a year and a half ago but I couldn't get into it until now.

I am not sure that Tia's woof was a visit. When she was ill I would wake up as I heard her big woof only to find her snoring beside me so it couldn't have been her. In any case the hearing her gentle woof again was like music to my ears :') The mind is a crazy thing... or maybe it was a visit??

As you can see from the photos Huzza is no secret and you haven't missed anything. We only posted about Tia as we were in dire need of advice which we definitely got from this forum Posts about Hudsie would be quite dull as he is a quiet and gentle soul and yet a delight to everyone he meets. We made sure that we found a quality breeder and have learned so much through Tia so hopefully we have many, many, many years before we have to push the panic button for him

We have always told Hudson that Tia was the reigning queen of this family so he always knew that she got into the car first and was first to be fed so he has always understood to step back and respect his elders. Now that she is gone it is time for him to step up so things are also odd for him. However he is enjoying having the car seat to himself and being able to lick my icecream stick and yoghurt tub which he could never do before since these things are impossible to share.

Hudson loves sitting on mats which was funny for us to see as Tia hated them. We placed some cooling mats around the house because they were oh so important to help manage Tia's heat intolerance. She did learn to use them eventually. We always had to tell Hudson to stay off of them as he would heat them up and be useless for Tia. Now that she is not using them anymore neither is he even though it is hot. Maybe a part of her energy is still on that mat??

The Aussie sunshine is nice, it brings out the colours in everything and keeps everyone in a festive mood. It is Australia day today so Happy Australia Day, may the sun shine brightly for you guys today and may magical blessings come your way.
