He had a scan this past thursday, there are lesions on his liver, he gets a bone scan this monday, he feels lousy, sad, that people he knows, past customers he has had for 30 years, don't stop by, we had the same problem when our son shane was hurt so bad in 1995, his friends mostly did not come by, to see him, as time went on,a few would come, but most did not,what is wrong with people?

We went through that after DH's Cancer surgery two years ago. It was so strange, my parents drove down from MN two weeks after my dad had Cryo for his prostate cancer. He was still uncomfortable but wanted to be here for me. Not ONE, not a single member of DH's family drove the 45 minutes to be here, not a visit during the 6 weeks recovery period etc...There were some phone calls but those felt obligatory. We were both pretty angry. But I had to let it go and told myself they probably don't know what to say, how to act and are afraid they would make it worse. IDK if it's true or not, but it is the only thing that made it possible for me to continue to talk with them.

I wish I had some words of wisdom that would make you feel better but you are both in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to all of you!! I think people don't say anything or come visit, because they don't know what to say, BUT THAT is NO EXCUSE!! People that are ill and their loved ones, REALLY NEED PEOPLE!

I think people get scared. They don't know what to say. But that doesn't help you and Mike much.

A couple times I've had people tell me that I needed to get out and see someone soon as they didn't have much time. I've also said that to a few other people too. Sometimes it needs to be spelled out. "If you want a chance to say goodbye, do it soon. And please call ahead." if there is anyone who could make such phone calls on your behalf, you should straight up ask them to do it. It would undoubtedly cheer Mike a bit if people even stopped by for 10 minutes. Or stopped by so you could go get groceries without leaving him alone. Many times people don't see things that make them uncomfortable unless someone spells it out.
