He sounds beautiful.

I've never seen a Toller either, only pics, especially not in my area.

If someone were looking for an agility dog, I think tollers would be great. High energy, focused.
They were originally called "Little River dogs".
My neighbour had a nice one years ago, he lived to be 17!

For the longest period I was sure my Woody had quite a bit of Toller in him until I did the DNA test and talked with the people on a popular Toller forum.

One thing I bumped into while researching the breed was a technic used to hunt waterfowl particular to the Toller and partially responsible for this breed receiving it's name Toller.

The technic envolved the Toller playing on the shore with a stick or branch and actually attracting the waterfowl to him out of curiosity. I've done a bit of duck hunting with my bridge gril Sammie and we were always hidden in some form of a blind often covered with a layer of snow but always well out of sight. I've never been able to grasp the idea of a dog dancing on the shore line attracting birds. I'd love to at least see a video of this sometime.

They're certainly a handsome dog with a high energy level and smaller in stature than our Golden's. I was surprised to hear of a Toller with blue eyes...I never came across this in any of my research but it must be a stunning look.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

I don't know how the tolling actually works either. Seems to me it would scare the birds away.

We have a Toller at our dog park!
When I meet her I asked her human, is she a Toller?
The gal was smiling from ear to ear, she said I was the first person whom ever asked that, she said everyone thinks she's a golden or some mix.
She was a beautiful little girl!

The boy...Lance & now ANGEL...Sierra... run free baby girl.
