Hello and thank you
Hello, my name is Kate and I have been reading this forum for several months now. You guys are so helpful and knowledgeable!
My family has had three golden retrievers over the years, Chessie (b. 1996, lived to be 13), Hannah (b. 2003, lived to be 12.5) and Allie (b. 2009, lived to be 7). The last two years have been hard. My Hannah died in August 2015 from cancer, and then at the beginning of September 2016 my Allie had a ruptured spleen, almost died, and was diagnosed with splenic hemangiosarcoma. We worked with an oncologist but it metastasized and we lost her on December 27. I am finding each day without my Allie very hard. It is especially difficult for me because Allie was only 7 and had always been a healthy girl. But I know cancer can be like that. Goldens have been part of my life for twenty years and I cannot imagine my life without them.
Before Allie got sick I had started looking into finding a puppy to bring home to be Allie's younger sister. But once we learned about the hamangiosarcoma I held off because I wanted to give my Allie all of the love and care I could. Now I am starting my search back up, and this forum has been very helpful in educating me on what to look for in a reputable breeder. It is amazing how much there is to learn! I will post on the "Choosing A Golden Retriever Breeder & Puppy" forum shortly. In the meantime it does me good to see all of the pictures of your goldens that you have shared here, and hear happy stories about your dogs and puppies.
