Hello and welcome from the coast of Texas. How lucky Willy is that you found him and rescued him. Rescue/adopte dogs are great. Back in '77 a lost, Irish Setter showed up at our house, no collar, so now ID, now ads in paper for lost IS, no posters and he was sith us 8 years. He never let me out of his sight if he could help it and hubby called him Sandra's Shadow. Until that point, I had always had English Setters.
In '02 we adopted our golden retriever, Honey==already had 3 bought from breeders, but this--well, she had been an hour from being gassed at the county pound and it was love at first sight for us. She was fully grown, heart worm positive, we had her treated and had her for 1`2 years, losing her ain Aug. 14. She was a such a loving dog, always wanting to be with us, kiss us all the time, etc. Upon her death, we adopted a 7 year old blind Great Pyrenees after the nearest golden rescue never replied to to my application. We lost Shaggy after only 3 1/2 weeks to cancer, and then adopted another Great Pyrenees, Sir Moose, and a few months later adopted an 11 year old golden girl. Shophie from her original owners. Had her 20 months and lost her back in Oct., but still have the Pry. All all our adopted dogs hae been so loving and sweet and seemed to know things could have been different in another home. We loved them all so much. Would love anote4hr golden, but are in our 70's and do not think it would fair to get a young golden.
