Haven't been here in a very long time, and a lot has changed in that time. I still live in Southern Indiana. I still have my 18 year old autistic daughter at home with me. I am still married to the same wonderful man. I still have Summer, my now almost 5 year old lab mix, retired service dog.
But, there it changes. My 20 year old son is still married to the same woman, but they are in Texas. They gave up all 3 of their kids through the courts, and we are raising our 8 month old grandson, Xavier. We love him very much.
I am currently on leave from AT&T mobility where I do data support, troubleshooting, for internet and email issues on smartphones. I am on leave because of my health problems as well as problems with the children at home. My daughter needed a service dog for years, but we just never got around to it. Was trying so hard to avoid it.
I have severe insulin dependent diabetes, neuropathy, hypothyroidism, parathyroidism, depression, anxiety, diabetic cataracts on both eyes that can't be removed because of other health problems, high blood pressure, tachycardia, PTSD, other significant vision problems, and the list goes on. Summer used to work with me, and help me a lot. She still does retrieval for me and helps me in other ways, but she will not do diabetic alert anymore because of mistreatment done by my son to her when I wasn't around.
Doctor has been after me for quite a while to get another dog to train as a service dog, but I didn't do it, didn't feel the timing was right. Now, however, I haven't had a choice as my blood sugars keep crashing without my knowledge until they are dangerously low.
So, after much research and searching we have brought home 2 golden retriever male puppies from the same litter. Excellent pedigrees, and all the clearances done on the parents, and they came out well. In fact, a half litter mate is a service dog, as well as the father is a seizure alert dog.
I'm not dealing with my daughter's dog at all, she knows she is responsible for him. I am just dealing with my own dog, Summer, my husband, Xavier (my grandson) and my daughter. Yeah, I know, a full plate and then some. But, everyone has come forward saying they will help because they know I need this.
My pup is 8 weeks old, has had first shots and wormed, and we have known this breeder for quite some time and the parents as well. They live here locally, and we talk often.
My pup's name is "Flash".
It is good to be back here. Not sure how often I will get a chance to get on but I will try as often as I can.
