Newbie with 11-weeker from Portland - Golden Retrievers : Golden Retriever Dog Forums

Hi there,
I am the proud owner of 11-week old white golden called Chester, and live in (rainy) Portland. I am happy to find this site to see if I can glean from others tricks and tips for managing housebreaking (I am a certified neat freak) and potty in place outside since Portland this time of year is very wet, muddy and downright yucky.

I am crate training and that is going well for the most part. Any others on this site have new GR puppies they'd like to share some of their "best known methods" for housebreaking and eliminating in a designated spot outside?

We've been using one in addition to a small flower bed area, due to the fact that Clover hasn't completed her vaccinations so has to stay close to home for now. She took to it quite well. She's 9.5 weeks.

Hello and welcome to the forum. We love puppy photos here, so when you get a chance, please post some photos of Chester. For great advice on potty training and any other puppy issues, try posting your question in our puppy subforum.

Hi there!
I am new to this forum also (this is my first post!) and I wanted to say Hi.

I, too, live in the Portland area and I have a new GR puppy who was born Nov. 6th! And I agree that potty training in the rain is NO fun!!

I will do a separate thread introducing myself and Riggins, but I thought I'd say a quick hello to a fellow Oregonian first!

Hope you and Chester are having a wonderful Superbowl Sunday and I look forward to comparing puppy notes with you!
