Hi everyone!

We adopted a 5 month old Golden. Her name is Ellie and she's now 8 months old, and a whopping 50 lbs!

We live in Germany for the time, but will be moving to Northern California in the summer.

Ellie was severely neglected when we adopted her. She is terrified of many things, but she is slowly and surely coming out of her shell! We are still working on the crate, but since that is how she was neglected, she goes catatonic in it. She's a doll, and doesn't need to be crated, thankfully! But, we do need her to at least feel a little comfortable in it when we fly back across the world.

Nice to find other Golden lovers here! We have worked with Labs, German Shorthaired Pointers, and I have a resident old man Bichon Frise, but this is our first time with a Golden. She is lovely!!!

Welcome to you and Ella. I am glad Ella has found a good home with you after her bad puppy life.

It seems you have been making good progress with making her more confident and I am sure that with patience and consistency she will learn that her crate is not an evil thing.

Here is Ellie playing in the snow for the first time! Her birthday is May 3rd. She looks a lot like a lab, but her feathering is coming in on her legs and tail. She is such a sweetie, and by far the easiest puppy I've ever dealt with. It's bad because she was neglected, and so she is afraid of making mistakes.

We will always rescue dogs. My Bichon was given up at 5 months as well for being vicious. He's over 10 years old and doesn't have a true mean streak in him!

Welcome to the Forum! I, too, had a Bichon. He passed in 2007. I then adopted my first Golden Retriever mix, Lacey (her pic's below), who convinced me how special Goldens are. And now I have Renny. I love Goldens!

Love seeing all your pics too everyone!

Here is one of my goofiest pics of her. It started with feeding Beau (my Bichon) in the crate, otherwise she'd gobble up his food too. Now, she has learned not to touch his bowl, but she still likes to supervise. Beau eats all day long. Ellie has to have a slow feeder bowl since she was inhaling her food when she came to us, so skinny and scared!

So, progress....she leaves Beau's food alone, but see, she's supervising!

where are you stationed? I was in Stuttgart for 12 years and Ramstein for two. Just left there in June
