Yes, I remember that Germans do not think highly of Americans when it comes to dogs.
The last time we were stationed in Germany, a German couple adopted a bordercollie from the German animal shelter (Tierheim). The border collie had been left behind in housing by a military family.
Your girl looks like a German bred Golden, that is why I asked

Welcome- We have an Ellie too. Her actual name is Eleanor, but my family insists that Eleanor is a too dignified name for our silly girl so it is often shortened to Ellie or sometimes Miss Ellie.

She actually tended to a very rambunctious 2 year old today! I was so proud of how she behaved and tolerated him, especially when she started out as a bundle of nerves! My boys are 16 and 10!
