Hello! I am new to this forum. My girl Maizy will be 1 on Jan.2 I recently purchased some chicken rawhide chips from Walmart. Both times after giving them to Maizy, she vomited. I know it has to be these chews. I went online to find out more about them, and was horrified to learn they are from overseas and that they have made other dogs sick, some very serious! I refuse to ever purchase these again. Luckily, it appears Maizy has only had the vomiting, thank God it wasn't worse. I am looking for made in the USA, natural, healthier chews. I will from now on investigate products before giving them to Maizy. Does anyone have suggestions? She is such a chewer, she needs something.

I'm sorry to hear your Maizy reacted poorly to the chews. It's going to be hard to find any chew like that which is both SOURCED and made in the USA. In my opinion, it's even more important to find out where the ingredients are sourced. Made in the USA only means they are manufactured/assembled here; however, the ingredients could very well come from countries with a suspect history of quality controls. For example, a chicken chew could be made in the USA, but the chicken originated from China.

You're lucky Maizy is okay ! Please always supervise her when she is chewing. A rawhide chip got stuck in Chance's throat once. He must have tried to swallow it before it was soft enough. Luckily, Chance was right next to me when it happened and my husband was able to reach in and pull it out. That's how we knew it was too hard to swallow.
Anyhow, a close call but I just wanted to pass that on to you.

I don't even give my Chance any type of rawhide chew from a store anymore. Some that are labelled "made in USA" actually get the ingredients from China. Unbelievable but true.

Since your Maizy needs to chew, Red Barn (USA) makes bully sticks that I haven't yet heard any negatives about. I used to buy the 30" bully stick and let him chew it down a few inches at a time. When it got to be about 4-6 inches (small enough to swallow) I threw it away.

I buy two kins of rawhide, one is from a company called American Beefhide by Amercian Dog. They say there it is 100% made in the USA and all of their beef comes from the USA. The other rawhide I use my vet sells and it comes from Canada called Virbac C.E.T she has been using them for her dog for about three years with no issues.

I don't give rawhides to my two, I give them Antlers. I have purchased several from this seller, reputable, prompt, and great Customer Service. Click on Chews to view available sizes. They last a very long time too.

I would advice you not to give rawhide,or pig ears,to your dog, they are not good for them,at all do the antlers.

I don't buy rawhide products either, too much of a choking hazard or obstruction hazard.
I don't do antlers either, my sister's collie fractured a tooth from chewing on antlers and had to have a tooth extraction under sedation.
Stay away from all "Dentley" products. None are made in the states.
My boys love Nylabones and I have some chews like denta chews but from another company than Pedigree. All made in the USA.
