New to the Forum--Picking Up our Girl on Saturday!

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself--my log-in is MGM which stands for Magenta Girl's Mom. Magenta Girl is the name of the puppy we are picking up this Saturday! The breeder tied a different color string around all of the puppies and ours was magenta. Since we have called her Magenta Girl since she was born, my two boys (2-legged) decided that Magenta was the perfect name for our new addition. I love it since the color Magenta signifies Universal Love and harmony!
I had a golden retriever as a child and have many wonderful memories with her. I hope to create many more new memories with our new girl and our family. My boys, ages 2.5 and 6 are thrilled! I'm nervous and excited. We have a 4-hour drive to and from the breeders and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for us in regards to transporting our new puppy. I read a few threads on people preparing for their new puppy, and it seemed that most rode on someone's lap. I was planning on taking a crate--but am not sure what is best. Can't wait to hold our new little fuzzy girl! I'm also excited to connect with all of you as we embark on this new chapter in our lives!

Welcome to the forum! You must be so excited to get your new Golden girl! Be sure to post lots of photos of your new baby when she arrives!

As for transport, I used a crate when I picked up my boy. I bunched up lots of towels all around and made a soft, safe nest for him. It worked well.

That is so cool to keep the name Magenta girl. Our junior handler Keller has a golden named Bunny bc everyone in that litter kept the name of the little animal on their id collar. There is Chita, Froggie etc. I can't quite remember which girl Lushie was, but I think her sister Juice was Magenta girl( or Lush was, lol.??), Copley was Red Boy in his litter, and Finn was no collar boy. Tally was the big fat boy, lol.

Welcome!! We are picking up our goldens tomorrow too. Names are still being tossed around. Cannot wait to have them at home!!

I had a crate for BaWaaJige and he rode part of the time in the crate and part time in my lap. I had a 7hr drive so we had to maek several stop along the way for pee breaks. He was a big boy too 15# at 7 1/2 wks so he was hard to hold for very long.
