Newbie Here! :)

Hello everyone! My name is Diana and I wanted to pop in and introduce myself! My fiance and I are starting the process of bring home our first Golden. We are currently in the process of becoming approved to rescue, but we have also looked into breeders also. I have two Yorkies, one of which is a rescue. Just wanted to say hello Hopefully I'll have a new addition to share with you all sometime in the near future!

Welcome to the forum! I adopted my first golden from SGRR back in 2009 and still volunteer with the group. Let me know if you need any help with OKC breeders--there are few reputable & a slew of readily accessible BYBs that are learning to talk the talk but not walk the walk when it comes to clearances & an assortment of other things.

ScottyUSN another member of the forum has both adopted from SGRR as well as purchased from a local breeder.

Welcome to a great forum from another Okie (transplant). SGRR is awesome thanks to folks like SheetsSM. I got my boy Finn (recently past) from SGRR.

My 12 y/o daughter wanted a puppy so we went with a breeder with our current boy Bogey. We love him dearly, but if I had it to do over again, we would have gotten another rescue. My DD now see's how puppies while cute are so much more work than a slightly older (calmer) GR.

Don't hesitate to PM if you need any local assistance.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

SheetsSM and ScottyUSN - so excited to see fellow Okies on the board! I just spoke with Jan from SGRR earlier this evening and just completed and emailed in my application. There are a few puppies listed on Petfinder right now that I'm hoping are still available by the time the process is complete!

If for some reason that doesn't work out, we will more than likely still adopt. As much as I want a puppy, I love working with rescues and would much prefer to give a Golden a loving home that needs one.

Just out of curiosity, what local breeders would you recommend (you can PM me if you want)? The only one I've considered is Goldens of Benden.

The puppies are on Petfinder, as well as the SGRR website. I am particularly interested in Lisa, the girl, but she has two brothers - Lex and Lang that I think are adorable also. I tried to PM you back but apparently I have to post 15 times before I can send PMs . Will respond as soon as I can!
