Hi, I have been a lurker for quite some time but thought I should finally introduce myself. I'm a mom to almost 5 year old twin girls and a wife to a guy that would rather sit out by the fire than watch tv (works for me!) I have wanted a golden my whole life but it was never the right time. We are hoping to get one around spring time (I can hardly wait!) For now I've gone OCD with my excel spreadsheets trying to find the right breeder.

Let me back up a bit. We had put a deposit down on one that was a BYB. We would have picked up the puppy a couple of weeks ago. Then I found this forum. After going back and forth I just couldn't go through with it. Maybe it would have been the best dog in the world but knowing what I know now I wasn't willing to take that risk. Thus, my search began.

I think I have found the perfect breeder but now it is just getting over the idea of what my original idea of price was to what we are really looking at.

There have been so many helpful posts (ofa clearances, breeder checklists, etc.) Thank you to those that have shared their knowledge!

LOL!!! A kindred spirit!!! I had a great spreadsheet with breeder info...kennel name, phone numbers, locations, sire and dam's information, offa ratings, when litters were due, notes on what I liked and didn't about each, etc. My DH laughed at me. But at least he couldn't say I was making an impulse decision, and I had the proof to back up my research!
